As She Climbed Across the Table
Phillip Engstrand, the narrator of this novel, is an anthropologist who is in love
with a physicist who falls in love with a black hole. That is the premise of this
story, and goofy as it, the novel is a compelling, entertaining, and perhaps even
enlightening look at the heady territory of particle physics, the nature of human
obsession, and the chasm between the academic cultures of the sciences and humanities.
