Jack El Hai

Jack El-Hai is an award-winning journalist and creative non-fiction writer whose works have focused on the history of medical science, among other topics. His books include The Lost Brothers, winner of the 2020 Best Book award in history/biography of the American Society of Journalists and Authors, and adapted for a PBS podcast; The Lobotomist: A Maverick Medical Genius and His Tragic Quest to Rid the World of Mental Illness, which was adapted into a PBS  television documentary; and The Nazi and the Psychiatrist: Herman Göring, Dr. Douglas M. Kelley, and a Fatal Meeting of Minds at the End of WWII, which has been translated into a dozen languages.

Jack holds an MFA in non-fiction writing; in addition to teaching in various creative writing programs, he gives writing workshops and presentations for doctors and medical researchers.
